About Us
Toil and Promote Agriculture
An independent, registered non-governmental and non-profit civil society organization empowering rural communities in Kyegegwa District, Uganda since 1998.
Our Story
Who we are
TAPA was initiated in 1998 out of the need to tackle problems affecting agriculture development. Registered with the Ministry of Internal Affairs under the National Bureau for NGOs (Registration: INDR2529805NB, Permit: INDP2355805NB).
We realized agricultural development cannot be achieved when household health is poor, especially during the HIV/AIDS pandemic that created orphans and vulnerable children, leading to school drop-outs and rising illiteracy.
Today, TAPA works across seven thematic areas: Agriculture, HIV/AIDS, Women Empowerment (DREAMS), WASH, Education, Community Infrastructure, and Youth Empowerment, partnering with organizations like Baylor Uganda, SNV, and Help for Kyegegwa e.V.

What Drives Us
Our Foundation
A prosperous rural community.
A prosperous rural community with improved standards of living.
Our Approach
How we work
A six-step cycle from community mobilization through to learning and adaptation, ensuring sustainable impact.
Community Mobilization
We begin every programme with community mobilization: raising awareness on health, hygiene, education, gender, and socio-economic development through meetings, training sessions, and campaigns.
Participatory Planning
Full community involvement in identification, planning, management, implementation, and evaluation. We value traditional knowledge and empower rural people for self-reliant organization.
Service Delivery
Transparent, quality-focused delivery in health, WASH, education, and environment. Community Health Workers, Para-social Workers, and AGYW peer facilitators drive on-the-ground implementation.
Evidence & Documentation
Every activity documented with attendance lists, distribution logs, consent-based photos, and procurement records. Responsible procurement and asset tracking throughout.
Networking & Advocacy
Strong linkages with government, NGOs, CBOs, civil society, media, and international partners. Advocating through rights-based approaches and dialogue at local, national, and regional levels.
Learning & Adaptation
Transferring field experiences into knowledge to influence development policies. Regular internal review of lessons learned and continuous improvement of practices.

What they say
“I never thought I'd see the day I could relax in a decent home. After my husband passed away, raising five children on my own felt impossible. The weight of responsibility was crushing. Then, TAPA came in like a miracle. Their house makeover program lifted a huge burden off my shoulders. Now, I can finally focus on my children and our future. TAPA's support feels like an answered prayer.”
